Default 2004 400 stalls after going in reverse

Kind of weird. Stalls after going in reverse unless I put it in drive real fast. And it only stalls after going reverse, never in any other gear. Not sure where to even start with this issue.

Does seem odd. However, if you are not getting a fault code on the dash when it does this, I would check the centrifugal clutch is not seized, though why it would work OK when going forwards I don't know.

Check the linkage on the gear lever to make sure it is going into reverse properly. Not sure where the switch that operates the reverse light is on an auto, but that, or the wire to it, could be faulty.
