Questions on new purchase 2012 DS250
#1
Hello, just purchased a 2012 DS 250 for my 13 yo daughter. Couple questions.
Anyone have info on how to check valve clearance? What clearance should be? Anyone see issues with valves?
- I cannot find too much on adjusting/setting valve clearance on these machine. Is it because they are not a common maintenance item? I have always owned Hondas and this is my first Can-Am. Generally, although not often I check and adjust valve clearance. I have a 2001 TRX400ex that I bought brand new and have only had to adjust twice in the 20+ years I've owned.
Cold Starting - The machine appears to be clean and was well taken care of, but the previous owner was not comfortable enough , past changing fluids to do any other stuff like clean a carb or adjust valves. Although he said he had carb clean last year. He stated before hand and showed me, it took a while to start and warm up, but did so. Said it always had been hard to start cold. We are in Wisconsin and it was in 20s yesterday. Once warm the machine seemed peppy and ran well, I thought anyways.
- He said best results, he had never used the choke or very little choke to start machine. I thought that was odd, but it did start that way.
DS 250 owners, any words of advice?
Thanks in advance for any info or help.
