Exclamation HELP!! 1994 Polaris 350 2x4

So I was given a 4wheeler from a family member its a 94 Polaris 350 2x4 2 stroke oil injected and I'm trying to fix it up to keep it in the family. The current issues that I'm having is that I cant keep it started and if I do it dies pretty quick. If I do get it running, there is billows of white smoke coming out the exhaust. I did notice that there seems to be an excessive amount of oil coming out of the exhaust. Please any information that anyone can provide so i can bring this 4wheeler back to life would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked fluids? Sounds like the crank seals are shot and you're sucking counterbalance oil or coolant into the engine. Common failure for this engine. You can do a compression or leak test, but in the end youll likely be pulling the engine to rebuild anyway. It's not that hard, just kind of putzy because of all the parts you have to take off. FYI if what I surmise is the problem, do NOT put new water pump seals on a pitted out impeller shaft - itll just fail again in short order. If you have access to a lathe you can turn the shaft down and order aftermarket seals, or there is a guy on ebay who will repair yours if you send it to him.
