Tao new cheetah 125 air filter mod
#1
I wanted to see if anyone was successful in either creating an air box for the uni air filter or a relocation kit for the air filter. My one grip with this bike is the air filter when aftermarket has no protection from water intrusion. So I wanted to see if anyone has tried to tackle this problem.

jump on amazon, search "tao tao air filter housing" should be one of the first results, round plastic filter/housing, 35mm. "JA-ALL 35MM Air Filter Box for Tao Tao NEW CHEETAH, NEW TFORCE".
could buy that, toss the stock internal filter, and cut some uni two-stage foam to put in it...... i'm tossing around doing this myself.
what i DON'T like is that it's 35mm, and my pz20 on my110 is 32mm....
not fond of that slop, i've ordered 35mm filters and fitted them, just don't like how sloppy they are...but I too do not like water intrusion issues, we ride mud/puddles/ shallow creeks/ field crossings, and i've seen that little cone filter get mud/water splashed on it quite a bit.
just a tip, from a guy who's rebuilt hundreds and hundreds of atv/dirtbike carbs..... get a little bit of craft mesh, little 1/4" square mesh stuff... the thicker guage stuff.. cut a small piece of it and put it over the inlet side of the airbox on anything you got if you live in the country. zip tie it good.
I'd say a good 50 percent or more of carbs I've had to rebuild have been due to a mouse/squirrel/whatever getting into the air box and chewing up the filter and making a nest. leading to yukky yuck getting sucked into the carb/cylinder.
I rig up those little mesh things on all that I rebuild to keep critters out. works great.... then only just have to rebuild them after someone doesn't heed my advise and go to ethanol free ONLY gas.
