Eiger transfer back to front?
#1
Hi, Recently purchased 2007 Eiger LT-F400/F. The Transfer lever is labelled R-H-L, but seems to move R-L-H. Has the linkage been routed wrongly? Thanks for any help. Mark.

I would say this is impossible as the selector mechanism inside the alternator case slides the gears. If the gearbox lever was upside down you would have to shove forwards for reverse. Only possibility would be if the low/high gears themselves could be put in backwards on the shafts. Are you sure the clutch isn't slipping? This happens more in high, and manual gearbox Eigers are rather prone to clutch slip.

Quite a while since I took one of those lo/hi boxes apart. Looking at the parts drawing, https://www.suzukipartshouse.com/oem...transmission-2 it may be possible to put gear (1) in backwards, gear (4) would also have to be put in at the back and gear (2) at the outside, but I would have thought other parts would then not line up with them. Only way is to take the alternator cover off and find out. Be prepared for many of those gears and washers to fall out when you do this, and use a 2006 parts drawing to re-assemble. I once spent ages looking for a washer shown on an early parts drawing, only to find it had been deleted on late Eigers.
