i had a spill on mine last sunday.i was climbing a creek bank that ive been up before, the tracks were too narrow but i went anyway.i got to the top and the bike went straight up in the air and was headed backwards,or at least i thought it was so i bailed off backwards.i feel about 8-10 feet to the bottom of the creek bed landing on my left shoulder and as soon as i hit the ground i rolled to the side so that i didnt brake the Bomb's fall.well, down it came and when it finally stopped(on its top)i pushed it back over expecting the worst but only scratched the plastic, bent the handlebars and shattered the headlight($93).by the way,my steering stem bolts were loose at the bottom but i dont think it was because of the crash though.

I also can attest to the toughness of the ds, however the second wreck was too much for it. On my first wreck, I flew off a fire road embankment, resulting in the DS rolling about 8 times. That only bent a tie rod, broke the headlight mounts (like all ds rollovers), and creased the plastic a little. I was HIGHLY impressed by the toughness, as were my raptor-owning friends. The second wreck finally pushed the DS to its limits though. I was climbing a hill at a local OHV park and I almost had it when I blew the 2nd-to-1st downshift at the top and it only went into neutral(anyone else done this?). I tried to stop and get off to turn it but the hill was so slick that it just started sliding backwards. I tried to hold on but the quad highsided with me on it, rolled and then hit me again after I bailed. It ended up rolling about 200 yards doing who knows how many end-over-ends in the air. At the bottom the frame was bent, a-arms tacoed, swingarm bent, and pretty much all-around-f*cked. I totalled it out and got a new black one. I did try to buy it back on salvage, but even with all that damage it ended up selling for $1800, so I let it go.

I too had a minor "wipe-out"this weekend, see ("This sucks"}. Sand 45, better check steering stem, when I rolled mine & I was surprised to see it bent just above upper mount.
This weekend damage is 1 tie-rod,1 fender brkt, bent wheel. And 1 huge bruise to righty leg.

Yes, I had insurance through State Farm. I know Farmer's also has atv insurance. It's a good idea to check and shop around. Mine runs about $16 a month... not a bad deal considering the loss. After the wreck my agent had me take it to the dealer and they went over it and itemized and totalled the cost of repairs. Insurance companies don't really have any ATV-specific adjusters. It was very easy and painless. They gave me back the cost of the unit minus some small appreciation and even reimbursed me for aftermarket parts (keep all your reciepts!). I would highly recommend State Farm for your ATV insurance after the experience I had.
