Went down to Panguitch, just outside of Bryce Canyon, this weekend with the Pathfinderzz ATV club. I saw some of the most spectacular country known to man. If any of you guys have ever been to Bryce Canyon or Zions, this ride was in typical red rock canyon country. The trails were approved for ATV's and took us right through the bottom of the canyons. Yesterday we rode into some slot canyons that were amazing, some places were so narrow only one machine at a time could pass through. Sure hope the pictures turn out and I can get some posted. We stayed at a little place outside Bryce in cabins that were set up with showers and were pretty comfortable. The guy that runs the place is a professional chef and in his restaurant he has some of the best grub you'll ever put a fork into. They really cater to ATVers in that part of the state. Man, it sucks to have to go back to work tomorrow!

The club founder and some others were riding Arctic Cat 500's and I must say I was impressed. I couldn't believe the rocks and logs they can go over and keep all four wheels planted on the ground. Not going to sell my Rancher but the wife might get an Arctic Cat 500 manual shift machine for Christmas

TTAYLOR, if you get a chance next year make sure you go on this ride, it was well worth the price of admission and a good time was had by all.

It sounds like it was a very good experience. Glad you enjoyed it. We have some real good riding up here in Idaho also. We're just not as well known. Kind of makes me feel sorry for the people who the people who live back east and don't have the riding opportunitie the we westerners have. I'm serious. They pay taxes and registration fees and the states don't help them out. Guess they can come and visit, but they have to go home after. We're already too crowded.

Now you know why AC riders are so high on their machines. It's pretty tough to get one wheel up in the air and leave 3 on the ground going over rocks and the like. The 500 has just about 9 inches of suspension travel so it takes a lot to get one of the tires off the ground. Makes for a real pleasant ride also.

UtahRancherRider,
I am glad to hear that it was a great ride. I have never ridden down there before. I can't wait to see your pictures. Hopefully you got some of those cats in action!!!!
With the new baby and all I just couldn't leave the wife alone with all kids. I will definetly go next year. I was told not to miss this ride but just couldn't help it this year.
Did you have a GPS that you saved the corrdinates of the trails? I would love to get some GPS coordinates of the area you rode in.
Are you planning on attending any more of the pathfinderzz rides? The next one is on June 2nd. It says they are starting up near soldier summit and riding over to strawberry resevoir. It's just a day ride. I am planning on going and hope to see you there. Are you a going to join the club if you haven't already? I really like how they have their rides all planned out for the entire year.
Glad to hear you had a great time!!!!!
Minehunter,
You are right we have so many trails and places to ride. We are very blessed. If you read the "where to ride" forum most of the posts of from riders in the midwest and east that are looking for places to ride.

TTaylor, I don't have a GPS. Kyle, the club founder, had one and I'm sure he could give you the coordinates. I haven't quite decided what to do about joining, it's great to have rides lined up, but my wife already thinks I'm gone way too much. I need to get atleast one more machine for the family. I have four girls and the older three love to ride, but I didn't dare take them where I didn't know the area.

I hope to make the Strawberry ride with my F.I.L. but I'll have to see how things go.

I'm headed down to our cabin in Fairview this weekend, should be able to put a few more miles on the Rancher I'm hoping to get out and find a few rockchucks or potguts and give em a little scare.

Good luck with those potguts. I hope you can scare the he!! right out of them. hehehe We always used to drive the road up huntington canyon that takes you over to Jose Valley. Used to go through a whole carton of .22 shells!!!!
Hopefully my wife will let me out for a ride this weekend!!! I know shw has a lot planned for me around the house!! I haven't ridden since last weekend when I went up long hollow.
You'll have to get your wife and kids some of the new cats coming out!!!

Utahrancherrider,
I just received my pathfinderzz newsletter yesterday. All I can say is WOW!!!!! The front page was filled with some of the most awesome pictures I have seen. Man did I really miss out on some great riding. That area is really beautiful!!!! I can't wait to go next year to that area. I am definetly going to go to Moab in the fall with the club. There are some pictures of that area too. I hope to see you on Saturday if you are going to make the ride.

TTaylor, wish I was going on the White River ride Saturday but the wife has other plans for me I'll have to checkout the newsletter. I was reading a Dirtwheels magazine from last year, can't remember the month, but it actually had an arcticle about the area we rode in. They voted Casto canyon as the prettiest ride in the U.S. The magazine is down to the cabin, but next time I go I'll see what issue it is. It was an issue where they had a 27" mud tire shootout, and also had a Highlifter Foreman 500 featured in it.

Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it being rated as the most beautiful. Just from the pictures on the newsletter it looked very beautiful. The secret Canyon ride looked like a lot of fun too. I was showing the pictures to a guy at work that I ride with sometimes. He was showing me the Fremont ATV Trail. It looks like it goes right past the cnayons you rode in down there. We were talking about planning a ride to go down on the Fremont ATV trail. We can unload in Circleville and ride down there and do some riding around in those canyons. Camp overnight do some more riding and then head back to the trucks. Well, let me know when you are going riding again maybe we can hook up and go.

The Mudrunners ride great on hardpack for such an aggressive tire. They performed well in the rocks. I was actually surprised they ride so well, a couple of times we hit dirt roads and rode the machines wide open, the Mudrunners just kind of purred along; they do make a little extra road noise over the stock Dirthooks. I can't really comment on the 589's because I've only seen them in the showroom, but I can definately recommend the Mudrunners.
