Opps I forgot to ask in the previous reply wither or not you noticed any power loss going to the mudrunners since they are a larger and heavier tire? Thanks for your replies as i am getting anxious to purchase some better tires.

 

To tell you the truth, I only had 30 miles on my Rancher when I switched tires so I really didn't have enough saddle time to notice a big loss of power, but I'm sure there was a little bit. I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than a 25" tire unless you plan on moding the engine. One other thing, just going from the 24" 2 ply Dirthook to the 25" 4 ply Mudrunner I'll bet I gained 1.5"-2" more ground clearance, which comes in handy while playing in the rocks and going over fallen trees, etc....

I don't specifically ride a whole lot of mud, but I was looking for a more aggressive tire with a heavier ply rating for rocks, trails, and some occassional mud. I also wanted a tire that would fit my stock rims, the Mudrunner seemed to be the best choice and I have no regrets up to this point.

 

Thanks for your imformative replies, My huntin buddy just ordered new 26in 589mt's on 12in rims for his 450 foreman. I think i'll see if i can throw them on mine for a quick ride and see how they work and if/how much power loss there is. The stock 2ply tires just don't seem stiff enough in the side walls for me and i noticed i have a thorn in my right front from a short ride last week. Someday...... I hope to get out your way and ride some of the trails in your area. I wish the misses was a rider also but, its not her thing as she says LOL ( helmets mess up the hair!) Keep the rubber side down......
