In Praise of the 250ex
#1
Just bought a 250ex for my wife and , Wow, what a bike. I had owned a Recon so I knew, kind of, what to expect, but I have been pleasently surprised.
It is very quick and nimble. I can pull wheelies in 1st through 3rd gear. Top end is quick, but not too fast. Just right for my wife.
I am so glad I chose this bike, and look forward to many years of service for both my wife, and myself.

I agree HondaHunter. I too purchased a 250ex for my wife. Last season she rode a recon. For being based on the recon, I certainly don't notice a lot of similarities between the two machines. Engine runs/sounds the same, but the gearing is much taller on the 250ex. My wife still short-shifts the thing, thinking she's still on the recon. But when you don't short-shift it, that's when you notice you ain't on the recon anymore, quite a bit more power.
Unfortunately, the suspension is even more stiff then the recon. My wife bounces around on the 250ex like you would on an old honda trike w/o shocks. I've called works and they currently have a 250ex in the shop getting its measurements. They claim it should be about 3 weeks till we get the new shocks.
