OEM tire problems?

Has anyone else here had constant problems with the Titan 489's? I've had to replace three front tires in my last 10 rides. It's like I can't hit a rock or bump without getting a hole in the side wall. It's starting to become a rather expensive habit. So, I was thinking about putting some Holeshot XT's (the 6 ply ones not sure of the model #) on the front and retaining my Titans on the rear. It would be the exact same size 23x7x10's. Would those tires be alright for my (oh by the way my ride is a '99 335 Sportsman) ride? I rarely use 4x4 and I do ride in some rocky terrain. I'm also aware that the Holeshots are for more sporty ATV's, but I need something reliable. Thanks for any help. Drew. '00 400EX '99 Sportsman 335.

The Titan 489's have a really bad reputation for that type of cutting , The stock Dunlops are not a lot better. I had them on my Magnum 500 and had some problems cutting them on snags around the Beaver ponds here. I changed over to the Goodyear Mudrunners which are heavy tires and have had no problems since.

The XCT's will help handling, and are a lot tougher, I like them. I wouldn't put them on a Sportsman though. They don't provide hardly any traction when in 4wd if it's slick. I didn't like the stock Titan's sidewalls either, for strength or handling.
I agree with Andy, put somthing like Bearclaws on it. Good all terrain tire, and it's really tough for me so far.

We actually had good luck with the Titans that came on my wife’s 325 Mag during the 1300 miles we owned it. But I must admit, I considered it nothing more than “luck”. When we traded her 425 Mag at about 2000 miles those sorry Dunflops had almost a dozen plugs in them, one as thick as my thumb.
Last weekend I had my first snow riding experience with Mud Runners on my SP500. They worked well, really well, but I think the Kenda Bear Claws I was running last winter were just slightly better. Maybe it’s just that the Bear Claws are lighter and I could spin them easier when I wanted to. Either way, no complaints. My wife has the Claws on her 500 Mag and loves ‘em.

I have Bearclaws and they are tough as nails and provide excellent traction (4 Ply). For the front of a 4X4 they would work a little better. Charrapall has them for the best price that I have found. They have an add in every Dirt Wheels magazine.
