FX400 3RD OVERALL GNCC ROUND7

GNCC Round 7 -- Wilderness Waterpark
Clarksburg, WV -- May 19, 2001
by Nate Gogno
The West Virginia race this past weekend was a muddy one. It rained the
whole night before. The first hill seemed like the hardest part of the track,
the mud was so thick that it took forever to get the hill clear enough to
start the following group. With this, GNCC officials decided to open a second
hill right before they started the 250B class. By the time the C class was
ready to got, the pros were already coming around the 10-mile track. Chris Borich
of Team Prompton ended up winning the pro class, this was his first pro class win, a pretty impressive task at the young age of 19! Behind him was Chad
Duval. Chad was racing a 250R owned and built for the former champ Barry
Hawk. I believe that Chad is racing for Tony Kellner, and Tony is in the
process of finishing Chad's very own quad. 3rd in the pro class went to veteran pro Steve Holbert on a Cannondale FX 400. Steve sort of has a Cannondale ride in that they are using him for product testing and developement. Holbert rode extremely hard and just about passed the whole field after getting stuck in a big bottlneck and changing a flat front tire. Hard to believe a stock OEM quad is capable of running this close to the front. I would just like to add that my friend Wes Stone, won the 250B class.
