I just got a full set of Elka shocks. I shopped around for months and decided that the Elkas are the best value in top of the line shocks. I thought that they would be close in quality to the Axis but at 2/3 the cost. After getting the shocks and comparing them side by side to Axis shocks, I feel comfortable saying that the Elkas are probably better quality than Axis. I know two guys that have the Axis shocks on their 400EXs and after trying my new shocks they both said the Elkas felt better damped than their Axis. These guys are very good riders and really beat the heck out of their shocks. The quality of construction is better on the Elkas than Axis. I don't know why Axis uses cheap plumbing type elbow fittings on their braided stainless lines. Those fittings use a 1/8NPT tapered pipe thread instead of the hydraulic swivel fitting used on Elkas. If you need to rotate that elbow for some reason, good luck getting it to seal again. The Elkas have threaded preload that adjusts with a standard spanner wrench -the Axis don't. The Elkas have replacable eyelets- the Axis don't. I think Axis is going to have to make dramatic cuts in their insane pricing or they will be forced out ot the market.

bash: Colby is not a bad guy...I feel he may not totally understand internet etiquette and how things work. He would not rip anybody off, in fact, I know a TON of people that he has given excellent deals to.

You are way too hard on him..it sounds to me that you have never even talked with him or bought anything from him. I have, and his service is second to none.

You should be ashamed of yourself for slandering someone like this when you don't even know them.

I know for a fact he isn't web savvy...I helped him setup his IRC client

by looking at the design of his web site, you should realize that he is no expert web designer.

Slander does apply here bash, but it doesn't really matter. I could just as well slander you for what you've been saying, and you the same for me. Lets all get lawyers and have a big ol sue fest. Point being, who cares about dictionary definitions

The material has been taken down, Colby is sorry and now more informed, no harm done, yet you seem to think this is some sort of act punishable by death.

As far as the whole Elka issue, that I don't know. I do know that Colby sells Elka shocks, and knows alot about them, and thats good enough for me.

anyways, I would say it would be best to let this topic fall, as it has nothing to do with the original post anymore.

I too have delt w/ Colby and think he is a great guy to deal with. There are WAY to many companys out there that screw people blind (last rebel racing now American star racing comes to mind as one) Colby isnt one of them. As for a dealer buying from another dealer...... IF only half of you knew how much of that goes on you would be supprised. If you look at all the dealers in the magazines.... do you honestly think that they all buy direct from the manufacturers??? Most dealers buy from white bros or performance unlimited, then on top of that, the more they buy the better the discount they get. So going through a middle man DOES have its benefits.

Bash:
While I agree that Colby should'nt have copied the page and pics, I still dont think that makes him a bad guy.

<< 2) If he isn't a dealer of Elka shocks, and doesn't have a dealer price list, do you think he really plans on sending you shocks when you send him your money? >>

Dont you think thats a little harsh? Who are you to label him as a crook? You should think about what your trying to say before throwing it up on the net, and letting people think he is a scumbag like Eric Cobb from American Star racing (last known as Last Rebel Racing)

DIEhardRider:
Yes the Elka's will be as good if not better than the TCS if they are as good as they say, and have more adjustments than the TCS.
Last I knew TCS does rebuild 250R rear shocks....
good luck
