I have a 2001 Scrambler 2x4 and there is a grinding like noise coming from somewhere in the rear,I think. It doesn't do it all the time but most of the time. I think it is the chain but I'm not for sure. Has anybody else had this problem. It's loud and annoying and a little embarrassing at times, but I can deal with that.

Is it like a clunk every now and then? If it clunks, it's your chain for sure.

Its probally your chain ..First check the front sproket to see if a tooth has been chiped. Also try oiling your chain with chain wax you can get it at your local dealer. Also see if your chain is loose. You should only be able to move it about 1 and a half inches up ...hope this helps

I had a very annoying rattle at the rear of my Scrambler. I found it to be the lower part of the air box vibrating and hitting a brace right behind it. I wire tied a peice of pipe insulation around it and the noise disappeared I don't know if this could be your problem but its worth checking it drove me nuts till I found it.
