My Rubicon has approx. 800 miles, I've noticed that the pleather on the bottom edge of the seat has rubbed the black plastic body panel and has rubbed a hole in the seat. It isn't visible unless you take the seat off. I can see it only getting bigger. At first I thought it was my 220 lb. behind, but when I washed my wife's NEW rubicon (130 miles, I noticed hers was the same way, just not quite as bad. She's only like 140 lbs... My plan was to swap seats when we take hers in (for the 100 mile service) this week and have my seat covered under her warranty, but now I've got two bad seats.. I can get around that too.. but was wondering how common this is. Has anyone else noticed this ? This isn't some safety issue that Honda will make a recall about, but I can't see myself buying new $80-$100 seats every 800-100 miles either.

Well I hadnt ever mentioned mine....I thought I had done something. Mine has rips on both sides. Right at the angle where it starts towards the gas tank. I will be taking mine to a local apolstry (spelling) shop for a new cover at sometime. I would personally like something with more grip on it anyway.

Just checked mine and it doesn't show any wear. Maybe the fit is a little different on some seats.

I'll have to check mine, but I didn't notice any wear the last time I washed it. Maybe you're "clenching" too hard on those steep hills.

Well I took the quad back to the dealer for the 100 mile service. The wear in the seat was noted and the service manager called Honda. They told him that they would only replace the seat if it tore up the side. Something about it being an offroad vehicle and that wear like that was expected. A friend's Ruby that we also took in at the same time for the first 100 mile service also had a small hole/wear spot in the same place. Oh well, I tried.
