it runs great but some people told me that I need an aftermarket cam or I will wreck my engine

Nope, you don't HAVE to get one, but...
Even though you've probably seen a decent gain in power with your 426/high compression overbore, you will be AMAZED how much power a bore/piston/cam combination will give you on a 400EX. With the mods I have below, I easily smoke a 400EX with just an aftermarket cam and a 430EX with no aftermarket cam--and I keep up with the DS650's and 250r's that I drag with.
