My brother, cousin and 10 or 12 of my friends got me all hyped up to get a quad so we could all ride. So I went out in January and bought a brand new yellow 400ex, it is a great bike. The problem is we have only went riding 4 times, and I am getting bored. Every weekend, everyone has something to do....paint the house, going camping, doing yard work, going fishing ect...they all seem to have an excuse every weekend!

Sure I putt around by myself for 15 mins here or 20 mins there, but it's not fun to ride by yourself. I am getting bored, and I see no sense in keeping a $5000 machine in my garage I do not use. I took exceptional care of my bike because I planned on keeping it forever, but at this rate it will be mint forever. I was waiting for that first scratch in the platic I would b!tch about, but that has not even happend! The worst thing that has happend is I put a black mark on the rear fender from my boot when I was getting on(it wiped right off).

I went out and bought new Mud Sharks for it, and the stock rear tires don't have 5 miles on them. I got the bike in January, and on my birthday in March my girlfriend bought me a whole Thor outfit, Pants, Gloves and Jersey, they are still new with the tags on them! What a waste!

Anyone want to buy an brand new 400ex? The bike is all stock except for the tires (still have new origanals), HJC clx3 Helmet, Thor Gloves, Pants, Jersey, MSR System X Gloves and 2 pairs of googles (Smith & Scott) $5000 firm!

The same thing happened to me when I moved here from Mississippi. Over there we would ride on Saturday and Sunday with anywhere from 10 to 20 bikes. We moved here and I spent 6 months trying to find someone to ride with. I've got a couple of guys who will ride occasionally, but still nothing like I'm used to.

What's up with that Tecate? Why did you get another bike if you had that one?

I bought the Tecate4 first, but this is the story.

My brother pressured me to get a quad and I had a Tecate a long time ago, and I wanted another, so I started looking, but I could not find a nice one at a decent price. I got tired of looking, so I went out and ordered a new 400ex. I wanted yellow, but there was a 2 week wait.....in the mean time I found a nice tecate4 I couldn't pass up. So now I have two bikes I don't ride! The worst part is, I paid cash for both bikes, plus riding gear (about $9,000). This has put a serious dent in my bank account(more like a hole), and my fiancee is getting pissed at me.

If you have two bikes...why not take your girl friend riding? That's what we did.

Yeah, get her on one of them! My riding buddy is my husband! Fortunately, I also have many friends that have quads now, and if he doesn't want to ride when I do, I can usually get someone else to go with me! That's alot better than selling such a nice machine!

At least you COULD go riding if you wanted to, with 2 machines Im sure you wouldnt have a hard time finding somebody to go.. Ive been riding by myself for at least a year now, and yes it is boaring sometimes, but must keep riding...

Racer18J, Actually I am in the market for a 400ex, and would be interested in yours. I need to sell my Scrambler first which is now in 3 different publications, and hope that it wont be too long. If you are still looking to sell keep me posted. I am hoping to have mine gone in a week or 2. I know how the excuse thing goes, before the group i rode with started having kids (myself included) we rode almost every weekend. now its like pulling teeth. later, GJ

I don't ride the Tecate4 much, and I certainly don't let anyone else ride it. I don't want anything to happen to it because I can't replace it. It is fun to take it out every now and then. When people see that green machine out on the trail most of them ask "what the heck is that", espacially the younger kids, most of them have never seen one, and they all think it's cool.

As for my girlfriend, she can't get used to the clutch thing. She does ok, but she has a hard time picking the right gear for different obsticals. Even on flat ground she will shift into 3rd gear before she has any rpm's built up in 2nd, then she just stalls it out.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the manual clutch. I have always driven a stick shift, so getting used to the clutch on my 400 was easy. Well, at least it sounds like you have someone interested in your bike! What about using this forum to find people in your area to ride with? That goes for all of you who ride by yourself. When I go by myself I go to one of the tracks out here. That way I don't feel so alone, and if something happens to me, there are people around who can help - and it's fun!

I just got back inside from washing my quad - going to the track tonight! Whoohooo!
