#1
Hi,
My little brother is getting a brand new atv. he is debating whether he should get a 300ex or a warrior. I was wondering if you guys could help me out and let me know some of the advantages and disadvantages. Also what you think he should get.
Thanks for all the help

It depends?? What does your brother like? If I had a choice I would go with the 300 EX. I'm not to familiar with the Yamaha but I've seen em in action and out of action far more than I've seen a Honda out of action. I would go with Honda with their bulletproff reliability and it a better all around quad.

Trails- I would go with 300 EX cause it has more low end tourqe.
Mud- I would go with the Wattior cause I think it has a little more ground clearance but it would sure be nice to have that low end tourqe.
Dunes- I like the 300 cause it is more stable for my liking.
Remember though, these are my OPINIONS. And my philophy oh opinions is: they are like butts, everyone has one but most of them stink.
Many of your post are going to be opinions but the final choice should be which one your brother is more comfortable on.

According to the websites, they both have 4.9 inches of ground clearance.
If he's going to be riding in REAL mud, for god sakes don't get a sport quad... if you're just talking like mud puddles (which you MUST be, 'cause I've never seen a sport ATV out mudding), then that's a different story...

I can help, maybe! But first let me just say that I have never ridden a 300EX before, but thought I could share my thoughts on the Warrior.
I had a warrior before I got my 400EX. My warrior was trouble free, and lots of fun! I think the low-end torque was great. My warrior was awesome in the trails with lots of steep little hills, and it was good in the mud! I had it out at Glamis, and it did fine in the sand with 8" paddles, except up the really big hills like Patton Hill and the Wall. I could make it, but I had to peg it in second the whole way up!
But, you know what? I hate to say this, because I don't want any Warrior owners to take this the wrong way, but the Warrior doesn't get as much respect at the Honda's do. I am not sure why. I always felt that when I told people I had a Warrior, they kind of lost interest in all further conversation! I guess because it's not considered a true sport quad, and it's not a 4X4 - it's a trail bike.
I think you will feel like you have a more powerful bike if you go with the Warrior, even if it's a 250. I have heard other people with 300EX's complain that it didn't feel as powerful as they wanted it to be. The Warrior is fun to slide around corners, and it's a solid jumper.
However, the 300 will feel lighter, more nimble, and will be more sporty. About the deep mud - yeah, I don't think it's a mudder! You'll have people pulling you out!
I sold my Warrior because I got bored with it in the first 3 months I had it, though. I wanted to ride on the tracks, and felt silly trying to do that on a Warrior! So I bought my 400EX, which I LOVE!!!! I actually have effection for an inanimate object - I should probably seek counceling!!

Final comment, after all this rambling.....it's a close call. I would have to agree with the mud thing. If you are going to be doing mudding, etc, then the Warrior might be a better choice. If mud isn't an issue, however, then it sounds like the 300 would be better for you!
