I am getting a honda 250ex and am wondering if wheelies will wreck the frame, or steering head bearings. Or anything else. I know you should put them down lightly, but what about clutch and engine.(Keep in mind 250ex has shaft drive and auto clutch).Thanks.

It shouldn't hurt any bearings or anything, tho it could put a little wear on the clutch if you ride a lot.

BULL$HIT... it won't snap your frame! My wife has a 250ex and we beat that machine when we ride it. Jumps... wheelies.... everything. It's built to be ridden hard. I don't know what the other boneheads are talking about!

If your going to get the 400 and get hurt cuz its to much machine for you, get the 300ex. Its right between the 250ex and 400ex in performance.

Oh F*ck that. Get the 400 and learn the hard way. Dump a couple then you'll learn to not jump quite so high, or take that corner quite so fast. After a while you'll get good. Getting something smaller would just decrease the fun level, and inevetibly raise the cost(b/c u'd be buying a new one shortly thereafter).

Honda 250X's are prone to the frame cracking near the area of the left foot peg, and the left front motor mount. guess this was just a flaw in the design? but i hear that it was only on earlier models??

i'm sure that honda has fixed that problem, because my 91 250X has been jumped pretty hard and has had it's share of rough landings, and hasn't cracked yet.

i'm sure that the 250EX woln't have this problem

but if i were you and you didn't want a 250EX, and thought that the 400Ex was too much. look into the 300EX, it's a great bike

don't waste your time with a 250EX, its a womans bike. I'll get flamed for that one.

Unless you just want to trail ride, and don't plan on moving up in the quad world, then go for it.

Whats the point of getting a quad and not learning how to use a clutch! Thats an important skill to have, and well you can learn it pretty fast, but why not just pick it up from the beginning and honing the skill awhile you are waiting to get a bigger quad.

I'd say start out with a blaster, 300ex, mojave, or a warrior for a first quad. Then work your way up. And all of those machines can be made into very powerful race bikes if you have the time and cash.
