My thoughts? The new C'dales won't be cheap, but if you figure the add-ons that most of us have on our quads, then the price starts to look pretty competitive. In line with that thought, add on parts rarely ever add to the value of a quad, but with a higher sticker price, the Cannondale should retain more of its value when compared to a quad that has been modded with an equal value of parts.
Honda and Suzuki may still come through with quads in the 400 class capable of competing with the Cannondale, but Yamaha definitely missed the boat with the Raptor since it can't compete in the same class. Although hindsight is 20/20, it's starting to look like a yz426 quad would have been the thing to make.
Anybody looking for a nice, used Raptor w/ extended warranty? hehe

I own a Raptor and hate to say this, but it's true. I don't think it will have "more" problems than the Raptor, maybe equal to, but not more.
If you need to know why, I'll post the extensive list of tranny parts that have been replaced recently. And yes, more parts were replaced than I first thought!

All of the major manufacturers have been caught with their pants down. I hope Cannondale sells all the atv's they can make....it will just raise the bar for all manufacturers. These guys will actually change something if it's defective or not up to snuff immediately. I like the mentality. Is the Raptor for sale? No way....it's perfect for me and my riding preferences.

Man, I had a big long message that I was gonna post on here.. and I deleted it.. how ticked am I?? sheesh
Cannondale has stepped up to the ATV world and hit a homerun. They have released 4 different quads, that people have been waiting for forever! In all the magazines.. Will Kawondapoluzuki ever make a quad like their prototype?? The KX250 quad is an excellent example. Yamaha is doing wonders for us, they keep making their products bigger.. but not much better. It seems to me like they rush into things.. As soon as the hype about the DS650 died down, here they come with a 660! Now, Kawi kills the griz with a 650V, and here comes a 660 4x4! I'm not saying that it might not be a great quad, but I am saying people should think about it before they buy one. No one ever heard anything about a big bore 4x4 from Yamaha until the Kawasaki got out.. Now, they gain the highest displacement title once again! I really think that unless Yamaha backs up the Raptor, and fixes all the 2001's, they will gain a bad reputation.. Especailly if the Grizzly has as many problems as the Raptor. I'm not trashing either quad, i'd love to have both. But if it was my money I was spending, i would NEVER buy a 1st year quad. Wait until all the bugs get worked out.. Put some mods on the Warrior or whatever.. and make it work until everything gets fixed!! Just my thoughts

I'd never buy a first year model, you can bet there will be problems with these new atvs and alot of things will be changed in the following model year. Now that personal water craft sales are at all time lows and the snowmobile market has taken a major hit over past few years, due to poor weather. All that is left for these companies is the strong atv market and now there is going to be a displacement war in an effort to increase sales even more. With this war, you'll see all kinds of problems with quality and durability,as these companies take less time with research and developement and just rush products onto the market.

These are not "all new" models. They all share the same basic engine and chassis, which is essentially the FX with the "bugs" from the first year worked out. The Speed is the improved FX. The other two are basically the FX built for more specific applications. They give the Cannible the "entry level" status, which is hard to believe since it is probably more quad than most will ever use, at 1000 dollars cheaper. I would imagine the two high end machines are going to be around ten grand per. It has me thinkin!
