I was just wondering if anybody could give me a ballpark figure on my Banshee's HP rating.

1996 Banshee w/'87 Engine
FMF Goldseries Pipes w/ Powercore II silencers
Trinity 2 into 1 carb kit with 33mm Keihin Carb
Pro Design Pro Flo intake with foam filter (snorkel rem from airbox)
Some mild intake porting
Wiseco 66.5mm Pro-Lite pistons (makes displacement 382cc)
Wiseco Hot Rods complete crankshaft assembly
Boysen Reeds

Thanks, Jeff350

That guestimate sounds pretty close.

The Mobiledyno website has a completely stock Banshee rated at 34 hp while one with airbox mods and pipes is at almost 39 hp. That is wheel horsepower which is much more of a "real world" type way to measure.

In comparison, they have a stock raptor listed at around 37 hp and a piped one at about 42.

For a modded Banshee, they list a 1996 Vito's 400cc Big Bore Kit Banshee with a K&N air filter on a Pro-Flow air filter flange, Trinity Stage 4 CV carb kit with 34mm Keihin, FMF Torque + pipes with Turbine Core 2 Spark Arrestors, High Compression Head Mod (To simulate 22cc domes in a Coolhead), V-Force Delta reeds and spacers, Wiseco Hot Rods crank, and Vito's Degree Key. They show it pumping out a max of 52.4 horsepower.

Reports are that Trinity has a big bore kit that puts the Raptor somewhere around 63HP! If this turns out to be true, there are going to be some wild thumpers out there having lots and lots of fun. What about it dseater and swytak? Are they the fastest quads you've been on?

HP number as was stated before are subjective.I have seen Dyno sheets for a stock Shee (with pro flow and FMF pipes) make 44 HP.Its hard to know, I'd say atleast 50HP.

I talked to Trinity today, as a matter of fact, and their number is 63hp! For a paultry $1942 you get head pipe and silencer, big bore kit making it a 680cc, cam, springs, port job, jetting etc. For an additional $440, send em your whole engine, and they will tear it down and install this kit as well. CT racing had a similar kit with no pipe/silencer that is also 680cc for only $900! Both kits make compression at 11:1, though, which sucks if you want pump gas. Trinity did say with all the porting in the combustion chamber that you could mix super with race fuel 3:2. If I remember right, the CT kit was only in the 50's for horsepower, only......Both companies said turn around time right now is appx 3-4 weeks. One other interesting note is that CT also makes billet trans gears for the Raptor, such as second gear. I failed to ask the price though.

Heres a question for everyone and something to ponder. Before they started doing titles for quads here in Ohio they use to give you a Certificate of Origin printed by Yamaha showing the frame/engine #'s etc. It also had a Horsepower rating. My Certificate of Origin, again Printed straight from Yamaha, rated my '99 banshee @ 47 HP.

Mine said 45 HP I think but it could have been 47 on my 2000 Banshee. By the way, that is at the crankshaft and not the rear wheels.

hittinhard,

That is funny you brought up the HP #'s that are on the title work. My Raptor has (I think) 48hp printed on it and I couldn't understand why that was there. Does anybody else that has a Raptor, have this info on there title? (just curious).

Bash,
It's hard for me to answer your question "Are they the fastest quads you've been on?" because I only have 10-12 hours on it and haven't done more than 1/2 and 3/4 throttle blips. I am just as curious as many to see how fast this 680 kit really is, but break in is very important and I'm not going to push it! I sold a 89' zilla (for the Raptor) that was fairly modded and I can tell you that it was extremely fast, though trying to compare the power is difficult because of the huge differences in where the power is.

I am trying to schedule a dyno test for my 680 Raptor for mid July and extremly curious to see what kind of #'s it puts out as well as what the tourque curve looks like. This will put alot of questions to rest!
