Get a banshee they rule. More mods available, more fun to ride, and its a two stroke which although requires mainentance it is a lot simpler than a four stroke motor which means you can work on it yourself. Get a banshee.

Get the banshee they are much more fun. I have never over heated mine in the woods. They are an awsome machine. Go like heck. If you pipe a banshee you wax a Raptor and never look back. Im trading my Craptor in on a 2002 Banshee at the end of the summer.

In all honesty I don't think either is better than the other. Where you ride is the thing that will make you decide on which one is for you. There both Yamahas, so you won't go wrong with either.

I had a 96 banshee, sold if for the Raptor that I have now and am 100 times happier with the Raptor. The only time I would pick a Banshee over the Raptor was if I only rode in the Dunes and was gonna modify the $hit out of it. And also, when they say a piped banshee will "wax" a Raptor that is a huge overstatement, and even if a piped banshee can beat a stock Raptor in a drag, it wont beat it on gravel, or loose dirt, or most riding conditions for that matter because they have almost 0 traction. Also its pretty easy to modify a Raptor to around 50 HP for the same amount of money you would spend on pipes for a Banshee which will be making low 40's. Don't get me wrong I would love to have a Banshee as a second machine, but not as the only ATV I own.

660r01...god some of you guys are so funny, you say that you can get your Raptor to 50 rwhp for the same amount of $$ that a set of banshee would cost.Muhwhahahahaha...it will cost you at least 1500$$ to get your Raptor at 50 rwhp so now lets compare i got my Banshee to 66.5 rwhp for 1500$$ now i am gonna list the mods for you.
1.Set of Fmf Fatty pipes with silencers
2.Prowflow air filter mod with holes in my lid
3.Level 2 port job
4.Carbs port
5.Superlite race Mx piston kit
6.Head mod
7.Degree key
Now dont even think you can match that without spending at least 3000$ on your Raptor.

First off, I dont see anywhere in my post where it says that I was talking REAR WHEEL hp.. Secondly in the latest ATV Sport issue (which I dont have in front of me at the moment) there is an article about some company that took a stock Raptor and after tweaking it with ONLY a full exhaust and different jetting they were making somewhere in the upper 40's RWHP and they specificly stated that the engine itself made at least 50 HP. So a full exhaust and jet kit for a Raptor which usually ends up around $500 and u can be making 50 HP (AT THE CRANK) and in the 40's RWHP. And if you look on FMF's site you will see that even the SST pipes they make for the Banshee put out around 38 HP at the rear wheels. As for your 66.5 HP. Trying to match that was never what I was trying to say, you have a lot more work done than pipes obviously. Everyone knows that if you get in a modification battle the Banshee better for that because it has endless mods. But someone posted that if u pipe a banshee then u will wax Raptors no problem, and all I was trying to do was make that statement less one-dimentional.
HOWEVER, as for not being able to match your 66.5 HP for less than $3000....... If you look at some of swytak's posts you will see that he has the Trinity 680 kit which cost about $1000 and puts out 63.8 HP and thats with the stock headpipe, so add a diffent headpipe and it looks like you're matched for maybe even less than you spent... So you can stop laughing now.
