I have a chance of getting a 99 Scrambler 500 for a pretty good price. If I get it it will be the only one in the province (as far as I know).

Most of the riding I do now is less that 20mph (tight woods trails, mudding, etc) I do pick up the pace from time to time, but not for long periods. I use Lo on my Xplorer 400 about 40% of the time. We ride 2-up so the Scrambler would be for me and Judie would take the 400. Has anyone 2-up on a 500?

Would I be wasting my money getting the 500 for my riding purposes? I'm not bashing the quad, just wondering if it right for me.

The scrambler 500 is awesome, I ride 2-up every once in a while and it can do it but I wouldn't do it alot, not good for the belt or chain. The seat is narrower than the explorer so your butt will have to get use to it. I went from a Sportsman 500 to the 99 Scrambler 500, I used low on my Sportsman about 65% of the time and I don't miss or need the low on the Scram500. I ride tight woods and think the Scram handles soooo much better than the expl/spor body style. It won't be as comfortable as the explorer but you can have more fun.

I have a Stupid question, what do you guys mean when you say you are riding "two up" and how can this be bad for the machine?
TIA

2-up = Two People (the strickers fell off my machine so I assumed I could take a passenger )

You are describing exactly my riding terrain. Rough woods, mud, hills, tight trails are the norm in the Pocono Mountains, where I ride.

The Scrambler is outstanding.

One thing that really impresses me is the versitility. My brother used to race Hondogs, he had 2 two stroke 250s years ago, but he now SWEARS by and loves his Scrambler. I like to ride at a fast clip, though I am not interested in racing. I love it. My girlfriend, who rode her first quad a few months ago loves it. Her daughter, 12 years old (hypothetically) loves it.

The Scrambler only gives what is asked of it. It can be a tame machine or it can give an extremely experienced rider all they can handle.

The snowmobile style clutching keeps you at the right power band every moment you ride, and removes the task of shifting, allowing increased concentration on the terrain.

Ride it and you will agree!

The scrambler is a great machine for fast, sporty 4x4. I would reccommend it to anyone.
