Xplorer 400?

It will kick the SP500 butt in stock vs. stock comp[arison. When you modify the 400 it will show some spsort machines the way home in acceleration on a straightawy for 100 yd or so. The SP500 is not in the same league (hp) as the 400 2-stroke.

does everyone here think that hte Xplorer can do 65? Thats fast! Especially since my friend has a Xplorer 300 adn I have a Honda TRX 300 and I take him on top end, but he kills me getting to top speed, I know that I have to take into consideration that he has a 300 and not a 400, and that it is a 1993 model, so I guess that Polaris has sped up there XP since 93

I have seen a few places calling the Xplorer 400 the "Xplorer 400L" Is there any difference between those two, dont they both use the sport 400's (excuse me the Scrambler 400's) engine?

Judicious tuning of the air screw on the carb can sometimes result in a 5mph increase. Based on the ambient air temperature, the difference between really strong and just so so is about 1/8 turn. Start at 1 1/2 turns out and keep turning the screw in ever so slightly, test the performance and turn again, test and turn again, until you find the sweet spot. You'll be surprised at how just a small change can make a big difference.
