Broken Swingarm--I hate to admit it, but Scramblers won't hold up

Snapped a swingarm after 1 hour's worth of riding today. This is after ripping an A-arm mount off of the frame last week when I hit a rock. I could make a long list of problems we have had with the 2 Scramblers, including broken frame braces, stripped hubs, broken trans case etc. The bottom line is, if you ride a Scrambler like a sport machine, and all we ride with are Raptors, Banshees, Quadracers, 300ex's, the Scrambler will break down a lot more than the others. It gets old after a while.

Even with all the problems, if I wrecked it beyond repair and had to buy a new quad, I'd buy a 4x4 Scrambler again. They're just too much fun in the woods to ride anything else. If another manufacturer comes up with a powerful sport 4x4 with real 4WD, I will buy it regardless of the price.

I ride with a highly modded banshee and put my scrambler through hell jumping, hitting rocks, and plowing over small trees keeping up with him.Other than a few flats I have yet to have a problem.you must be very unlucky!

Luck has nothing to do with it. I'm talking about TWO Scramblers constantly having problems. One of the guys riding with us today said we need to buy another Scrambler to park in the woods so we can get parts off of it during each ride. That would have been funny if it wasn't true.

It is partly due to the rider but I must agree that the Scrambler does not hold up to "sport-quad level" abuse such as jumping, hitting massive bumps and jumping! LOL

But on a lighter note, I met up with a fellow Raptor rider this weekend and his Raptor was a sorry looking piece of quad. His 2nd gear is shot, starter doesn't work, axle busted twice, oil resevoir cracked twice and much, much more. But then again his tires were bald and his plastic all scraped up, so he must ride very rough. Mine on the other hand is awesome.

Like someone on here said: "If you don't break anything...you aren't having fun!"

How did the swingarm break? Was it jumped often? Rolled?

Thanks,

Rainman

Wow, you must beat the hell out of your Scrams, but hey, at least your having fun. I have had good luck with mine, but then again, I don't have 4x4's.

I was climbing a rocky hill when it snapped, not even a particulary steep one. We do beat the Hell out the Scramblers, but the guys we ride with ride just as hard with hardly any breakdowns.
We used to hear it all the time from the Raptor rider, but he recently has lost second gear and then his starter went out, so he toned it down a little. One of the Quadracers will break something occasionally, but those things are 12 years old. I'll say one thing, Honda quads are boring in my opinion, but those things rarely have any problems.

See that just goes to show it's all rider I ride with 1 qaudracer (who messed his carb all up just this last ride) 2 banshee's one just is FAST I mean FAST the other is brand new blew his carb off, 4 400 ex's which I beat in a sprint but they didn't break anything 1 ds650 which is all screwed up broke all kinds of chains ???
I also broke down though, a flat tire other than that none for the scrammy, maybe your right it's not luck but is the common denominator the scrambler or the rider ?
No offense just asking.

How can it be the rider's fault when a swingarm snaps? Unless you're jumping tabletops with a Scrambler, that swingarm should last for years. How can it be the rider's fault when rear hubs keep stripping? How can the rider cause the magnetic coil in the 4WD to go bad? Did the rider weld the frame brace that breaks when you jump over a small rain ditch? Did the rider manufacture the cheap tie-rods ends and plastic steering bushing? Did the rider design the PLASTIC guard that breaks into a thousand pieces when the chain hits it allowing the chain to smash the trans case? Ask someone who knows Polaris engines about how easily the stock pistons will crack. I could go on and on.

Unlike many Scrambler owners, I'm through trying to make excuses for why we keep breaking down. Bottom line is Polaris doesn't design these things to take the abuse that other machines can take. In my opinion if you're not having problems you either haven't ridden it very hard or you haven't had it very long.

You could be right, I have only been riding a year, but my friends bought there Shee's after my scrambler and have a lot more problems.
Maybe your not landing right when you jump ?
Landing on the front looking for an endo, maybe I don't know ???
I know I have never broke a swing arm, never broke a frame, never busted a chain, and have never turned down a race !
Sorry about your luck, maybe you should go buy a honda I haven't seen to many problems with them, maybe that's cuz there behind me
