Plain and simple... Dealers are in the business to make money. Sell your quad privately this fall just before hunting season. You'll be much happier than if you trade it.

That is the Worst deal I've ever heard. I just sold my Sportsman H.O. for $5800, with 1100 miles. Sometimes you can trade up and do okay, but when you cross lines, like going from Polaris to Yamaha, you are going to lose out. I never have any trouble selling quads. Just clean 'em up real good, armor all and a little elbow grease, get a dealer service, let 'em grind you a couple of hundred bucks and 'voila. Gone. I usually put an ad in the paper and stick it out on the street with a "for sale" sign. It has never taken more than 2 weeks to sell one. LOL

As Fourlix said, A good clean up and a coat of armour all works wonders, You can probably get another grand if you you tough it out a week or so and run it your local paper, You will be amazed at the response you will get from people who dont want to buy used from a dealer

How come your trading for a Warrior? You've got a great quad there. I've had the oppertunity to ride both and I personally like the Magnum better overall. Of course it's your decision based on your needs. If you don't need a big 4x4, then no sense in having one right?

I agree, $3800 sounds like it's way less than you can get for it. I bet you could get $5000 (or close) within a week if you advertised it in the paper here.

If interested, I have a buddy with a 2000 Warrior, with very little miles, and it is in great shape (stock) and I bet he would trade with ya.

I think you are still better off to sell it privatly though.

Good luck with whatever you do.

According to Kelley blue book, the 2000 Mag 500 trade-in value is 3705. so actually he is giving you 95 dollars more than the trade-in value. and Retail is 5380. This is acording the Kelley Blue book, not sure what the dealers actually use to gauge the value of ATV's. but selling it outright is the way to go, you could sell it for 5 grand and have 1200 more to use towards a Warrior.

You can look up the trade in value of your quad online at www.nada.com

The dealer offered me $1400 for trading in my 94 400 4x4 with a little more than 1000 miles on it towards a new sp500.
