I have a 99 sport 400: i have been modifing it, wiseco piston kit bored over, k&n airfilter, springs shocks, dg pipe and silencer, and has been overhauled.
Alright now here's the problem, all my friends have dirtbikes and they are quick, my friend has a 99 cr 125 and it is completely stock. i raced him on a straitaway and we were side b side the whole way, what else can I consider doing to it to blow him away?

you could change your tire size smaller u would probly beat him of the line but then he would catch you also i would take off that dg and switch to hpd or hotseat they are suposed to be the best i know the dg pipe looks good but i heard they dont work good and are manly for dirt bikes and non automatics well that is what i think hope it helps

I don't know...it will take a lot to beat a CR125 (on top end) if it is in good shape and the guy can ride it (even though it doesn't take much skill to hold it wide open in 6th gear).

You should need more than just a pipe to do it.

Just figure it this way....once you can beat a stock Banshee up on top end then you'll have a better chance in beating a 125 since they are very close to a Banshee up top.

I'm not saying it's impossible...It would probably only take porting...Oh and don't forget your clutch kit.

Good luck with hopping it up!!!

crazybob,

"Speed is a question of money. How fast can you afford to go?" Anon.

Like articcatsux said, get yourself an HPD, RCR or Hot Seat pipe and clutch kit. Then add a set of reeds, porting, a high compression cylinder head and a larger carb. Lose some weight off your Sport, work on the suspension, and the brakes and you'll be set.

I think the general concensus on the DG pipes is that they are crap, although I do see a few guys with hi-perf machines using their silencer.

Go with either HPD or RCR. Start with a new pipe, carb and clutch components. From there some porting and headwork may be necessary. After those basics are done work on fine tuning your clutch and losing any dead weight from the machine.
