I have a friend with a Sportsman 500 HO. He has the extended warranty and paid good money for it.

The problem is, the dealer is not fixing the quad as readily as he did under the original 6 month warranty.

He is hearing things like: "The adjuster will have to take a look at it..." etc.

Is this normal? Do dealers have to participate financially on the repairs under the extended warranty, and is reluctant to perform the repairs because of this?

It appears that ever since the original six months passed, he is now being, "slow walked."

Your thoughts and opinions please.

A friend of mine has a `00 Xplorer with the extended warranty and he's had the same problems. I remember one time it took the dealer 2 months to change a cracked case when the chain snapped. Another time it took almost 1 1/2 months to change the starter. Not that any of this helps you, just letting you know your friend isn't the only one with troubles with the extended warranty. Lata.

Depends alot on the dealer and the mechanic. The warrenty is only as good as the dealerships mechanic that is performing the work. When you take the quad in for repairs,if the mechanic blames you [the customer] for all the repair problems, the extended warrenty will be worthless. And yes, sometimes it does take the adjuster a few days longer than it should, especially on the higher priced repairs.I have a great mechanic that sides with me,so usually,my repairs are done pretty quickly.Just recently my mechanic took longer to do repairs than expected, however,he also missed a day of work.
