BUY MYSELF A NEW YELLOW 2001 DS650!!! YEAH, I'M EXCITED!!! The first new ATV I'll own will be a DS650! I think I am getting a great deal for the brand new machine, so I can't pass up the chance. Just a couple questions...What do I want to check for when I get the machine home? I know to adjust the suspension, toe-in, and do the proper break-in. Anything else I will want to do before I get too many miles on it(not talking about aftermarket stuff yet)?

Congratulations, you made the right choice!Adjust the rear shock as it says in the owners manual for your weight.Buy an after market chain roller, the stock one will not hold up for very long.Good luck and welcome to the club

hey 3tv what type of riding do you do? I was wondering if 22/23 are good for all types of riding. I ride mostly dirt fireroads and the occational mx track.

I know lots of people like flushing as many stock fluids as they can, so they're sure about what they put in...like...do your brek in, and when you're done, change oil (trans/crankcase) shocks if possible, coolant, brake lines. Not that it will work better...but you'll be safer (especially for the shocks and brakes, you'll remove the "machining residue". It's a good thing to do.
If you ride "far" from home, get already a new set of handlebras. It sucks when your buddys are riding and you look at your bent handlebars...

Okay, It's time for me to put on my discussion forum good etiquitte badge. I find this forum a great resource of information about ATV's. But it doesn't help people find the information they need when we use titles like "Well guys, the time has come for me to..". It's like we have the need to peak everyone's curiousity to have our messages read.
Why not title your message "Buying my first new ATV, a DS650, need advice". That way people buying DS650's can find and benefit from your message and it's replies.

I'd like to respond to your title, "Well guys, the time has come for me to...", but the moderator would censor my reply.

Oh, by the way, congratulations on your new purchase.

Check the chain tension with you on the atv, I'm not sure but I think that is how people are tearing up their chain rollers, I still have the stock roller on mine, it still works just fine.
