ball joints

Jacked up the front end of my 99 300 4by4 and noticed quite a bit of vertical play in both upper ball joints.maybe 1/4 or more.the lowers have no play in them at all.Is this normal????????the machine has 245miles on it

Are you sure it's the ball joints and not the bearings??
Anyway, it kinda sounds like it might be time for new ones-- but that seems WAY too early for new ones to me. Besides-- the lower ball joints seem to be the ones that go the fastest-- and they don't go very fast at all.
