I just recently bought a used '89 Banshee with a rebuilt motor with FMF Gold Series Pipes and a 2 into 1 aircleaner adapter with a K&N Filter, runs great. First question, what kind of fuel should I run and what ratio should I mix the 2-stroke oil? So far I have run race gas 100 octane, running a 24:1 ratio with Motol 800. The other question has to do with airfilter. I have heard several people say, definetly run the stock airbox, especially when running on dunes. Anything else and you are shortening the life of your motor. They said I could run a K&N inside the box. Any thoughts on this. If I put back on the stock airbox, I could also put back on the overflow recovery tank for the coolant.

I run my gas ratio at 32:1 on my Banshee using Yamalube-R oil. As for the air filter I use Pro Designs pro flo with the foam filter, but I hear the K&N filter is the best in the dunes.

dman, since you already have the K&N filter. I would put the air box back on & get a Pro
Design alum. billet plate adapter for your air box. the K&N filter will clamp right onto it and no air can possibly by- pass the filter as it can with the stock set up.My Warrior & the Banshee share two common problems...the air boxes are from the stone age. As for the dune subject, I'd definitely use an outerwears pre filter over the K&N.
Unless you have some engine modifications, I see no reason to run race gas, not that it would hurt but not any help either. I run high test pump gas in my Warrior, (92 octane) & only because it may run cooler in an air cooled engine.
BTW, the adapter plate from Pro Design is $35 & the complete adapter/2 stage filter is $99.Pro Design tel # is (714)534-0620
