Some friends and I have just booked a mule deer lease for this year. Part of the lease agreement allows us to bring our quads to use for hunting or hauling out game. There is one stipulation though, your quad has to be quiet. The owners say you must have some type of quiet aftermarket muffler or silencer. Does anyone know of a muffler or silencer that quiets the cat without killing the power?

I don't know how much more quieter you can make that machine. You can try taking some fiberglass insulation and taping it around the end piece on the muffler. this is generally what your repakcable exahust have in them. This should help some but it may not last.
If you want you can borrow my race bike and put it next to your cat and I'm sure that they will see that your stock machine will work just fine!!! j/k.
I have never heard of anything that could make them quieter.

See if you can find the short exhaust stinger off of an old VW bug. Some parts houses still have them. They were about $7.00 at one time. Anyway you can clamp those on the short section of the muffler outlet and it will quiet it more and have no resriction at all. I put on my old dirt bike many years ago to quiet it down, it was a lot cheaper than the stinger that went on the pipe.

Years ago when I used to race enduro bikes there was a decibel limit that each bike could produce at some races. The fellows with loud bikes would take a 12" piece of inner tube and hose clamp it to the end of the exhaust. It would make a fluttering sound but got them by the sound test and was easy to install. It can be tuned by shortening the tube length.

Someone made mention of using an extra 90 degree elbow on the exhaust outlet. Waco, where's your lease at? I just finished putting up two tree stands last weekend on our land in Bastrop county. Should be interesting.

Hey Dakotart:
Our lease is in Donley county in the panhandle. I think it's going to be an incredible lease. Last year there were 4 mule deer taken in the area that were at least 27" wide. Can't wait to go. Did you ever get any new tires? Do you have a winch on your quad? If it's the warn 2000lb, did you do the upgrade to the 2500lb?
