I was reading somewhere that a 300ex that had been piped and a race cam added could beat a stock 400ex.

Is there anyway that is true?

IF so I want to do that to mine.I am getting a K&N filter, rejet and white bro's complete pro meg exhaust.(how loud is that?)And maybe a cam.

Then I could beat 400's?That sounds crazy my 300ex is not a real quick runner.

It will take alot more than a pipe & cam to beat a 400.Good luck if you try.

I bet maybe you missed one important point, that the 300 was bored out to 330???

Our 300 is piped and has a K&N. Those mods alone made a big difference. It can hang in there with a stock 400.

No no it was a 300ex not a 330ex.I wish I could afford a 330 kit.BUt that and the high maintaince are keeping me away after all. This is not a race bike just a trailbike used to play around in the woods and feilds around my house.

I need some more power though that is for sure.U get off my 250r and on the 300 and it is like what the?I liked my old warrior for it's 6 gears and it was more comforable but I like the 300ex's handling and the fact that it starts everytime I push the button.

I need a queit pipe and I think the pro-meg is louder than the e-series.Also I heard that white bro's pipe to to crack at the mounting points.Has anyone experinced this?

Well I raced a 400 the other day and I pulled away 2 lengths then he finally passed me when he hit 5th. We even changed bikes same result. All mine has is a pipe and filter, but it screams. I can ride wheelies in 5th no problem and it doesn't fell like an ordinary 300ex. I think it has a cam and high comp piston, but I'm not sure. The pro meg is well worht the extra money and you can also get a white bros quiete insert. I wouldn't even mess with the regular e series if I was you.

I have a 329 kit from poweroll 96ex with a supertrapp ids2 pipe 14-37 sprockets drilled out airbox lid with a uni filter,20x11x9 razrs and dont think on top end it will hang with the 400.The smaller dia.tires may lose a little off the top , but the torque is equal if not better than a stock 400,downshifting is greatly reduced on the trails with this setup.Ive never actually run a 400 since the fresh top end required because of improper installation by the original owner.
