Tuning Silencer for 250R
#1
Does anyone know any way to temporarly lower the sound levels for tuning (mostly pilot jet)? I have an FMF pipe and silencer and it is just way to loud for me to sit in my garage or the front of my house and work on it while it's running. I've thought about putting a bucket over the silencer with sound deadening material but don't know how effective that will be. Also it has to be free enough to not overly restrict the exhaust to the point that I will get inaccurate tuning, remember this is for idle circuit tuning but like with all two-strokes every now and then you have to give it some gas to clear out the oil builtup.
Also is them maybe a much quieter silencer I could use with my FMF fatty and still get decent preformance?

One problem with the Cascade piece is...not only do you have to waller thru Cascades inability to keep ANY form of schedule or committment...you then have to succumb to thier mercy and take the bike to thier shop to have it fab'd in house....OR buy the silencer body and then fabricate your own stinger for it...

i dont know if this works with the fmf pipes, but i email ctracing to see how to lower sound for a 250r and they said to get a fmf spark arrestor, i dont know if this will help you out or if you have one, but it should get the sound to 93db's or under.

Check out LRD's websight. They have a queit silencer that is supposed to pass noise limits. It is a double piece where one silencer mounts in the stock location and a second silencer mounts under the rear grab bar. I don't remember how much it costs though. You can see it at lrdperformance.com
