Anyone using a 43 tooth rear sprocket with .25" swing arm plate
#1
I want to put a 43 tooth rear sprocket on my Raptor, but I want to know if will interfere with a .25" swing arm plate. I would have went with the 12 tooth front but everyone seems to think that isn't a good idea. Any suggestions?

I put a 12 tooth sprocket on my raptor and still didn't like the 'gap'. A buddy of mine has a banshee with extra rear sprockets one of them was a 44 tooth. I had to take my gyt-r skid plate off to make it work. It will fit with the stock chain 12-44 gearing. This is a whole lot better. What I am running for gears now is 12-46. Almost perfect for me. I ride in the sanddunes using 10 paddle tires. With the 44 tooth sprocket I had to shim the skid plate down ,I used a couple of washers between the skid plate and swingarm. With this 46 tooth sprocket I run now I had to buy longer bolts and stack washers , about 5 washers works good. Tell me , does your raptor have a master link, mine did not. When I buy the K&N air filter kit and a pipe combo ( having trouble deciding which one to get ) I will probly go to the 44 tooth sprocket , maybe depends on how much new power I get. I dont know where you do all your riding at but 12-46 is awsome in the sand with good paddle tires. I weigh 165 and drag race all the time at little sahara oklahoma , this gearing works great , plus I can ride wheelies alot easier and farther than before . I still have great top speed in the sand . Dont know about in the dirt.

Yes, I'm trying to eliminate the gap between 1st and 2nd. When I'm riding through tight wooded area's it's hard to keep the rpm's up with out it stalling out or working the clutch too much. It seems that 1st is too much gear and 2nd is not enough.

Mean1,
My plan (within the next couple of months) is to use a 13-43 setup with a PRM skidplate. I anticipate having to cut and re-weld the skidplate. From what I understand, this setup almost matches the 12-40, but without the accelerated chain wear due to the 12T sprocket up front. After reading what 'vilnrk' has to say, maybe 13-44 is better?

Thanks to my friend RaptorRRC, I have been running the 12/42 combo for several months and it is a great comb for many types of riding. Had to shim the stock skidplate with 4 small washers on each side for clearance but the stock chain was long enough and did not have to be re-linked.
