I own a '00 Kodiak and think it is a wonderful machine overall. It's not a boat so i guess i shouldn't be upset.Twice now,not knowing exactly how deep the water hole was i took water into the tranny causing belt slip.took it in both the front and back of the machine. The back intake is only slightly higher than the back tires. In my opinion that is not very high. But i guess you can only go so high, your limited.May be i should of got the Big Bear then i wouldn't have to worry about taking water in.Anyway i was concerned about the cluthes so i took it in to inspect and clean.Upon removal of the cover the mechanic found alot of grit(ddirt and sand in the water)inside the cover.Disassembled both primary and sec. and cleaned them up.I,m glad i brought it in because if i would of rode it the way it was it wouldn't be to long before i did some real damage and then it would of cost me alot of money.word of advice if you submersed your machine you better take your cluth apart and clean it

Snorkel your Kodiak and all your problems will be over. Some one here has awesome instructions and pics online. Just do a search on snorkel and you'll find it. It's VERY easy and very CHEAP to do.

I would highly, highly recommend snorkeling your Kodiak before getting the belt wet again. After I snorkeled mine it is almost like a boat. You will love it. I need to update my signature to add a second album. I will do this right away because it has some updated rear snorkel pics in it. Check it out when you have time.
