question about the unlocker for the wolverine
#4
The Wolverine doesn't come with an unlocker. You cannot buy an unlocker for the Wolvy because it's shaft drive front and rear. The 2002 Big Bear comes with an unlocker. It's electronic. There is a switch on the bars to unlock the 4WD. Before 2002 the Big Bear did not have the unlocker either. Hey, Danny ever think about getting a 2WD quad? Like a Warrior or a 400 EX?

I think you're looking at the wrong machine here. Or the right machine for the wrong reasons.
You should probably be looking at the Big Bear 4x4. It has an unlockable front diff, 50 more cc's, and costs $500 less. It's also far more suitable for plowing and heavy work than the Wolverine.
I considered the Wolverine myself once, it's a very sporty looking machine. I still keep it on my list of "things I want but probably will never have."
Point blank, it's just not a very practical machine. It has no speedometer/odometer. No unlockable front diff. Isn't built for towing, plowing, or heavy hauling. Less ground clearance than most of the major 4x4's out there. Smaller tires (23" as compared to 25"
. Oh...and it COSTS more!!! (the lists goes on if you actually compare side by side).
What does it have going for it? it looks cool.
I think what you need to decide here is "What do I really want?" If you want a sport machine, buy the Warrior. It has the same engine, yet costs less. If you want a 4x4 (and it has to be Yamaha), buy the Big Bear. In general, the Yammy's are sportier 4x4's than other brands anyway, so I suspect you'll still be happy.
When I did the comparisions, I ended up chosing an Arctic Cat 400 4x4. No because it's necessarily a better ATV than any other, but because it seemed the best ATV for me and my riding style.
While I still thing the Wolverine is a "sexy" machine. It's overpriced and under featured and caters mostly to people who don't think with their heads (IMHO).

I used my head when I baught my wolverine. I was looking fo an all -
purpose quad and that is what I got. Racks front and rear to carry gear, strong enought to carry me, gear and deer from the woods. Shaft drive so I can cross (deeper) water than most quads, and not have to worry about getting my drive belt wet plus it is low maint. 4x4 so
I can trail ride in mud/and snow without getting stuck, and sporty enough to blast on tight trails with 2 wheel drives.... also
highlifter is in the process of fabricating a new front axle so that
the 4 wheel drive is selectable...
