Extended Warranty for Raptors.
#1
I recently purchased a 3 year warranty for the old raptor. It is really a shame that I was basically forced to purchase it. I have been reading too many horror stories of this 2nd gear fiasco and the list goes on. If knew I would have needed to purchase this warranty I would have never bought the damn thing. So far I havent had any problems but I might add I only ride maybe once every two weeks. I know the warranty does not cover the carb boots if they split and the clutch is also not covered. I basically got it for the tranny. I paid 752 greenbacks for this plan for a three year coverage. Now when you see a disgruntled Raptor owner slapping his gears around LA Dunes in Louisiana you will know why.

Sorry you feel ripped off. I bot the 3 yr warr on my raptor, even though I hadn't heard of any probs at the time. Reason? Any newly released product has a higher # of repair issues than a mature product, whether it is a car, trk, atv, boat, etc. If I want cutting edge technology/performance, I gotta put up with the downside of the learning curve.

Extended warranty is a good investment even if it only covers the engine and driveline, etc because these are the high dollar items if repair is needed. At least, it gives you a peace of mind.
One of the main reason to buy one is the resale value. If you can say that it still has coverage, a potential buyer is more likely to to purchase from you than someone who has no coverage.
I think you did the right thing.

I paid $630 for my 3 year warranty also. I bought my Raptor with 1 or 2 hours on it (one month old), and bought the three year warranty after hearing about the transmission issues. It hurt to pay for, but the feeling of relief when I walked out the door of the dealer made it worth every penny.
Good luck,
Lorrin

I can check my receipt, but I'm pretty sure I paid $350 for mine (yes, it's the three year warranty). It's already paid for itself (I bent a couple of a-arms on my bike and the dealer replaced them at no cost). One thing to keep in mind though - As much as I hate to say it, your warranty is only as good as the relationship you have with your dealer.
