These nuts are loctited from factory so heat them up before loosening (makes it easy to spin off). You will need a 50mm wrench. K&L Supplies or Yamaha sells the wrench specifically make for this. I like the one I got from my dealer because it is thick and you cam hammer off the nuts.
When you put them back on, make sure to loctite them or they may loosen up. The `02 Raptor has new nuts with set screws in it to lock them in place.

The really nice heavy duty 50mm (2"
wrench (looks like a flare nut wrench with long handle for hammering) is what Yamaha recommends to their dealers for Raptor, Banshee, Blaster and it has a slot so you can fit 1/2 breaker bar or torque wrench. Because it wraps around the nut, it won,t scratch it. The dealer told me that they get theirs from SPX Tools which supplies Yamaha dealers so ask your dealer to order one for you. I think it cost about $25~30. K&L and Motion Pro also offers something like it.
Open end wrench might round off the corners at 100+ ft lb of torgue. The combo 2" or 50mm wrench at Sears probably will cost around $50.00 and from Snap On, probably over $100.00.
I don't use pipe wrench because it scratches the nuts - I'm kind of picky about that. Gotta go, my nuts itches.
