I can't believe how much heavier this thing feels over my LT250r

I know that is partially due to the battery, starter, etc, but what else is adding weight to the machine?

How can I lighten this thing up reliably?

The only real suggestions I can have are:

#1 - Put on an aftermarket silencer. Most of them are lighter than the stock silencer. (Might wanna check out the GYT-R Carbon Fiber Silencer).

#2 - Remove the skid plates.

The Raptor is already on a diet considering how big the engine is, so there really isn't much you can do...

paintballer i know how you feel. my 400 is WAY heavier than my lt was and your raptor is even heavier still. eventually you'll get used to it but losing a little weight on the ol quad is never a bad thing right? you can always remove your headlights and cut the fenders if your desperate. that'll give you a surprising amount of weight savings. take out your tool kit and get a parking brake block off. drill holes in the footpegs. those will give you some minimal weight savings. there are lots of parts you can buy to make it lighter like carbon fiber rims for example. you won't ever get it to be as light as your LT but with enough money you could get it in the 400EX weight area fairly easy.
