Has any one else had this problem? My 01 Autocat won't start in gear, where do I start looking? Thanks for any help.

Bucksnot-
Hate to sound funny here, but the the sensor is on the break lever-you have to pull the break all the way back before it will start. Kind of a safety feature. Simply pulling it a slight bit is not enough to trip the sensor, you have to pull it all the way back, almost like you'd set the park break, then it will start in any gear (h,l or r).

If you've already tried that and it won't work, then I have no idea...

Best of Luck,

Mike

The sensor for that is located right above the front differential where the brake lines "T" it has 2 wires going to it. That's where I would start....Bill

ZRT1000 is right if it won't start with brake lever in, the switch is faulty, seen it on 1 other bike, the switch is on the hyd brake line above front diff. You can disconect the electical lines at the switch & complete the circut, only diff is the bike will start without touching the brake lever.

Thanks for the help every one. The switch above the diff is bad.

Bucksnot-
Glad to hear you located the problem. Will dealer cover it, or at least treat you right? Hopefully it won't be too expensive to fix.

Best of Luck with that,

Mike
