Went to Glamis this past weekend and had a blast up to the point I decided to crash test my DS. Near as I can figure I was doing about 60 mph fully topped out on a long strech of sand. The guys I was riding with said they were topped out on their 400ex's and I was pulling away from them. I cased the DS on a whoop I didn't see (yes rider error and not the bike's fault) and the bike poe-goed on me. According to my friends I flew about 90 feet to where I finally came to a rest. According to the doctor I tore my hip-flexor because I can't lift my leg very well. I should heal fine thankfully. And as for the DS, it had flipped three times and landed right side up. I hobbled over to the bike and notice the bars had been pushed back in the clamp. I pulled them up, adjusted my levers a little bit and fired it up. It started as if nothing happened. So basicly I took damage and the DS didn't. Now that's a damn good bike! And yes I'd like to state once again that this was the case of rider error and not the bike. Dirty glasses + dirty goggles = poor visibility at speed.

Sorry to hear about your crash, glad to see that you and the bike survived and will be ok.

On a side note, which do you prefer riding in the dunes, the banshee or the DS. I am buying a new bike soon and am trying to decide.

Thanks
Bat

Quicksand, Guess it was your turn this weekend,Glad to here you are OK.
The DS is a pretty tough machine. I only damaged the rear bumper, hard to beleive there was not more damage at that speed.
Get ready for some physical therapy.

Glad to hear you are OK....and your DS too! We were also @ Glamis this past weekend....camped off Keyhole campground. Speaking of crash testing, did you see the silver Expedition off of Gecko road??...I sure hope everyone was OK .....it did not look pretty.

Batoutahell, I actually prefer the DS in the dunes just because it does everything very well. The Banshee is a great hill shooter but it's not a cruiser. The suspension is great on the DS as opposed to the Banhsee so long rides are no problem. The DS is also wider and handles bowls with ease. It's funny but I alway tell people that the bike is only heavy when you have to move it around by yourself or have to lift it. When riding it I don't feel the girth. It just goes where ever I point it. It's just one hell of a versitle bike. I can cruise the dunes at speed, hit the hills, or I can just casually ride next to the road at five miles an hour. Heck, the DS even towed a buddy and his quad out of the middle of the dunes, having to go about 5 miles through hills and valleys. I still love my Banshee for all out screaming two stroke power rushes. It will always be a blast to ride. It's just that overall I my DS does everything extremely well. And just wait until I tweak it .

Gottahavaraptor, I did see that wreck. It was just plain nuts!. From the looks of it, the Ford t-boned that pre-runner. We were camped just down the road from that spot. I saw all kinds or people riding over the check it out and take pictures. As soon as I heal up I'm out there again!

Thanks for the info, I think I am going to get the new baja real soon, I wish my dealer here had one, because it would probably be in the garage now. I think I will still get a banshee, maybe next year if I can find a good deal on a used one. I think I will build it into a badass hill climber and keep the baja for all other duty.

Again thanks for the input
