Greetings,

Back behind the differential on the Recon there is a hole that looks like a hitch. I know its not a hitch because they sell a hitch to mount in it. But is that all its there for? And what if I wanted to tie a rope to it for some light towing, like pulling some brush or a small log for fire wood -- would this cause any damage? Appeciate your thoughts.

That is where you mount your hitch, along with the other mount on the bearing carrier. Personally, I wouldn't do any towning through the gear case mount...either buy a hitch, make a hitch, or tie the rope to your rack or a frame point.

I paid around 28 bucks for my Recon hitch. Best money I ever spent.

I used to see hitches sold by Cabelas but not lately, where did you get yours?

I got mine at the Honda dealer. $27.95 + tax.

Ditto on the Honda Shop. They carried the hitch made by Cycle Country.
