bayou 220
#2
The Recon and Bayou both seem to be reliable quads, as i own a recon and my neighbor owns a bayou, both 2000 models. The only problems i have had with mine is the headlight breaking after being hit with a rock while riding an old rail bed and the trunk breaking off after being rear ended. I can also say that my neighbor has had a slight electrical problem, the one time a short caused the bike to die completely and the other (which we have still not determined) caused the back tail light to be slightly dimmer than the other one. I can say the bayou rides smoother and is faster but the recon handles much better and seems to take jumps better. The bayou also seems easier to shifs easier too. The recon also seems to have much more power that the bayou. And i do hate the drum brakes on both!

Well I did it.Bought the 220 in hunter green, its going to be my youngest son's christmas present. He doesnt know it yet though.I think he will be pleased as he has been trying to keep up with his buddies on a 85 trx 125 Honda and them on Recons and Quadrunners,Man that little Honda will rattle your teeth out.If you have ridden one you know what I mean.Anyway I think the Kaw was a good choice, and the price was good too.600 to 700 dollars cheaper than what I could have gotten the Recon for.
