GNCC Racing 400ex or Raptor Witch one would be better for it
#2
The EX would be a better choice.
The raptor, although a very nice bike doesn't have the low center of gravity, nor the gearing needed.
I see on this forum that alot of poeple have a miss conception of GNCC racing, it is endurance racing, two hours of flat out racing.
The honda is a good choice, but let me let you know, the + what ever a arms, the wide axles, the little tires, keep them all at home!
In GNCC you will be able to ride on portions or all of, wich makes up portions of a coarse, MX tracks, but most of your riding is trails, rocks, roots, stumps, water crossings and hills, or declines with roots, rocks and water crossings on them.
A Mx race (my son races mx) is just who has the most money in thier quad wins, well a bit more than that, you all know what I mean.
A GNCC race is more of a endurance race, were pacing your self, and strategy play a big part. Much like a nascar driver explains thier racing, run the hole race just to put your self in position to be able to win.
So my best advice is to spend as much time getting in shape as you can, It isn't easy to ride hard for two hours.

I'd say go with the raptor, you can regear it easy, and so a little work to the motor, widen it a little and get some nice shocks, that will get it's center of gravity closer to the gound, ofcourse you say "well, see you have to do the mods to a raptor, but not to the 400ex," but you need to mod both of them to be competitive in gncc.

The problem the raptor riders have expressed, is not that the gearing is to high or to low, it is the wide differences between gears.
As far as widing it goes, you need to stay narrow and nible, ground clearence is a graet need as well. Although some do go with +1 a-arms.
Don't get me wrong here, the raptoris a very tough competitor, the ex as well, Thier suspention is light years ahead of mine and thier power is graet.
Go to the GNCC web site and read about the tracks and thier set up, this will give you a better idea on what you could fit better with.
I must admit the extra effortless power of the raptor would make it easier on your body.
Look I ride a lakota, Yes I love pain!!!!!

For GNCC Racing i would go with the 400ex, because it does have a lower center of gravity, and GNCC racing is mostly wooded areas and ATV Sport magizne named the 400ex the best woods machine over the raptor, scrambler 500, and DS 650. Dont get me wrong I love the raptor but for woods the EX is the way to go

Have you ever ridden a quad? I know that sounds harsh...but the last two posts above your last...were trying to help you. How in the world are we supposed to know which quad you would like to race? Watch a gncc race and make the decision...you will not go wrong with either bike. One of the guys above is 100% correct...this is not MX. Endurance is the key. Your Name implies that you already have a 400ex? Are you questioning your ability to race it? If that's the case...then none of us can help you.
Both of your mentioned quads will need work to race with the experts....the Raptor will need work in the handling dept....the 400ex will need work in the motor dept.... And you will need hours of prep/saddle time. It's your call. Personally, I would not choose either one of those for GNCC...but that's just me.
