Who has a FST 446 Wolverine?
#1
I have been looking into several motor mods for my Wolverine. I am very interested in FST's 446 kit. What kind of performance can I expect? how reliable is it? will it run with a stock 400EX? I have heard this kit called a Banshee Killer when done to a Warrior. I have a hard time believing it can run with a Banshee but would like to hear how 446 owners like thier bike. I will not run big tires, just looking for more overall power. What was the overal cost. Did Mickey istall or did you have the machine work done locally. Any clutch mods? Any info will be greatly appreaciated.

i have had my 446 kit a couple of years now with no problems. stock cam, stock carb, stock muffler. i want all the low end i can get. the bike will beat a 600 griz out of the hole by about 2-3 bike lengths. the griz midrange kicks in and thats is where he catchs up. the top end is about equal. you wont be dissapointed, i guarante it!

Thanks for the reply tripower! Does this kit involve stoking the motor? I have heard that this kit gives awsome low end, but what about mid and top end? I have not ridden with too many 600 grizzly's so I am not sure what to expect. How does it compare to a 400 ex or Warrior?
Is the motor any harder to start? have you done any clutch mods?
if you dont mind me asking, what did you pay, machine work included?

the 446 kit is stroked 10.5mm and overbore is 3mm. low end and midrange is fantastic. the top end is about the same. i dont ride with a 400ex or warrior, you wont be able to keep up on top end. out of the hole and for a bit out you will do better. don't forget they are about 100lbs. lighter and 2wd, big difference. engine is not harder to start and no clutch mods. the kit is 650.00 and machine work is 600.00 hope this helps.

Thanks for the info tripower-
I do want to improve low end torque but also would like a good overall boost in power. I would assume that you can get the front end up much easier now and can turn bigger tires if you want to. I will probably stick to stock size as I like thier light weight and handling. Are there any other kits, Powroll ect that you think would be better for my purpose?
How much down time was involved with this mod? did you send in your head or the whole bike? Or just get the work done locally?
$1250 is alot to spend so I want to make sure I am happy with the results.
By the way, got any pics of your wolf?- I would post some of mine if I knew how-

airwolf. don't know much about powroll, down time a can be a problem. 4 stroke tech is now backlogged till march 2002. summer time is his busiest time i think. i sent in the whole motor. if someone is good on splitting the cases and has done this work before, do it locally. just buy the parts and the down time will be a lot less. i have pics but don't know how to put them on, sorry.
