Hello everyone. I would like to get a new hi performance quad in the very near future, but my question is where is honda's new 4-stroke. I had a 400ex already but i sold it(do to lack of brain cells), and i want another one. Will honda's new bad boy have the crf450 in it? Should i get the 400ex and modify it or wait on a new honda?
Thanx for the replies.

I'm trying to get a Cannibal. I don't see why someone would get a Raptor (I know a lot of people are gonna argue with me on that one) but The Cannondale is wider, faster, lighter, better shocks w/ more travel, may not look as good but performance should come before looks, smaller engine so you could race the 250 class. I don't see any advantages that the Raptor has over the C-dale. I don't think the Z400 is gonna out run it either. It may have more HP but so does the Raptor and DS650 and they aren't faster. That EFI system is just plain awesome, I can't wait for the Cannibal that I have on hold to come in.

Have you guys ever heard one of the new cannondales run? They sound like a powerstroke diesel. I asked the guy riding it, something was coming apart.

Did I just read someone suggesting this guy to get a Raptor? Are you outta your mind? Let's face it. Honda has done their homework. For the cost difference between a 400 and Raptor, you can spend a grand and have a 400 spank the Craptor. I race GNCC aboard a 250R and have never been beaten by anything but another 250R or 400EX. Power isn't everything. Handling has to be there also.

Honda's Rule.......

Yes I suggested a Raptor, just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not a good ATV. I own a 250R and yes it's good but so is the Raptors power and it also has reverse unlike the 400 so put your $1000 into a new quad but it still wont be the same. The Raptor is liquid cooled, good luck getting that on a 400EX unless you have some deep pockets. THe 400EX is GREAT too but so is the Raptor.

What are you going to put that grand into? 440 kit, cam, pipe? Then you have a less reliable motor, and unless you change the rev(which will harm your engine), or run some WFO gearing, your quad won't be any faster than it was right off the showroom floor. It will accelerate much harder, have more torque, and power, but it will NOT have a higher top speed. So you've just sank a grand into a 400EX.. and it won't outrun a Raptor.. Unless your race stops before you get both revved out. I don't really like the Raptor all that much, but, I hate to see guys diss something they don't really know alot about.

The 400EX handles alot better than the Raptor. But, the Cannondale is faster than both, and handles just as good as a 400EX. Hmm, tough choice now..

I think that if you do sink enough money in a motor to beat the Raptor, in the end you still have to do chassis mods as well to keep up with the engine. I personally have always thought that the 400EX handles better because it was slower. We all know that when you put 10mph in a quad that you are going to need a chassis that can handle it. I think that Cannondale has the best thing going. Especially with all the changes they made. Oh and I hope that Honda comes out with the new 450 as well as the 650. Maybe it will be like it was back in the 80's again with the factory sponsorships. Kawasaki started it in GNCC. Cannondale joined, and Suzuki just got in. THen in the ATV Action issue there was that mysterious call from a Honda rep. asking why they hadn't bumped the cc level up yo 450cc. Things seemed to be getting very interesting now.

Um no. The 400EX just plain handles better, doesn't have anything to do with the raptor having a higher top speed.
