Your technique should work...just kick it until the gauge stops moving up (and make sure your kill switch is off).

Compression on a stock Banshee should be about 125.

An easier way is to attach the gauge, put it in third gear, pull in the clutch, push it and then suddenly (pop) let the clutch out.

You will get an accurate reading that way.

Be sure the key is removed!

Screw in your test gauge, sure it is reading 0. Hold the throttle wide open and start kicking. Usually a good 10 kicks will get you your reading. Dont forget to hold open the throttle.

Oh yeah, that's right to. Forgive my ignorance, but how come you need to hold the throttle in? I have been wondering for a while.

holding WOT during the C-test allows more air to be sucked into the cylinders and gives higher readings.

By holding WFO throttle you let the engine suck in the full amount of air while kicking. Full air will make sure you get the max/most consistent readings. If the throttle isn't open you won't be able to draw in the full amount of air and get a lower compression reading.

I thought compression should be 160lbs? Or around 6:1 compression ratio..
