Tire losing air on bead? Anyone?
#1
I went riding last weekend with my Rancher. Took alot of abuse on the side waals of the tires( turning while going 30-35mph) I noticed at the end of the ride That I had a flat. I took my repair kit out thinking I had a slice or a puncture. The three of us looked the tire over and no holes. Then one of my buddies noticed grass between the rim and bead. How do you fix this?
Any help would be Greatly apreciated

First things first, make sure that the bead is where the air is leaking out of. Get a spray bottle of water and soap and spray down the bead and look for air bubbles. If it is coming out of the bead, deflate the tire completely and see if you can pry down the sidewall and then get the junk out of from between there. If that doesnt work you have to take the tire off the rim and clean it.

I had this problem as well, only mine was on a 300EX. I tried slime, cleaning, and remounting. What I found to be most effective was installing a tube. I went to Farm and Fleet and got a tube for like eight bucks. All I did was clean the bead and rim, pop one side out, and throw in the new tube. Never had a problem since. I did this to both of my front tires. I would recommend this if you plan to ride as hard as you did last weekend. Best of luck!

Getting grass and sticks in the bead are not uncommon. I have had good luck with Slime sealing the bead up for slow leaks. It may be necessary to lower the air pressure to clean the crap out of the bead. After you think you have it all out, remove the tire from the machine and put 16 oz of slime into each tire. Be sure to tilt the tire onto its side so that the slime will get distributed on the bead area. Once you are satisfied that the bead has been coated, reinflated and it should seal up. Reinstall the tire and ride on.

Thanks for the info guys. I am going to try what team 400ex said and if that does not work I will move on to your other suggestions. I am still using the stock tires but I am looking forward to getting new tires after the winter. I have been leaning toward the 589's but at the same time I am reading other posts on tire choices for the rancher.
Again Thanks
