fan for my 400ex?

i was wondering that if anyone thinks it is possible to mount the fan from a forman or a rubicon? i know i would have to make some brackets but i could rig a switch so that i can turn it on when i start it up anyone think this is a good idea?

I definitely think its possible if you where pretty creative on designing a mount. This will add some additional forward weight, but not much. My only question back to you would be why? Are you experiencing an overheating engine? I occasionally ride with a few guys on Ranchers and the only time that their fans actually kick on is when the machine is idling for and extended period of time. I generally don't let the ex just sit and idle, so this doesn't seem to be a problem. My biggest problem with heat comes from the mud getting caked around the engine and in the oil cooler. In this case, the fan will not help. I have never had it overheat (to the point of meltdown), but I try to keep the oil cooler clean by spraying water on it occasionally. Again, if I felt that overheating was a possible problem, I would consider a larger oil tank (Pingry makes a 3 quart) instead of the fan. Pingry advertises that the larger tank reduces the oil temp by 12 degrees.

i love the looks if that kit but i have a few questions 1. if i have to use that cooler and my stock cooler wil my oil pump beable to handle pushing oil though a extra cooler? 2. wont the cooler block air coming into the motor fins? and lst do you think the kit will work with the omf louvers thanxx for you help and i am glad to see that fst is the first company to come out with a kit like this because i trust your engines i have used several of them and they rock!!!

Phaskell,
We have been testing this cooler for the past 6 months now with no problems. Chad Duvall will be running this on his 500EX in the GNCC Pro Class. We will be using the OMF air scoops and it would be nice to get more air to the motor so we are using one of the 250R air scoops/nose piece from Quad Tech. Mostly, this is going to get more air to the stock oil cooler which it really needs because it runs 100 degrees hotter than my oil cooler. The oil pump was pumping the oil up through the cylinder before and now we are routing it out through the oil cooler and back into the end of the cam so there really isn't any problem with starving the head.

Mickey,
I must say that is a very nicely engineered oil cooler!!! Do you have to drill the frame for mounting or is it a purely clamp-on solution? I just may buy one of those if I don't need to drill any frame holes (I weigh 270 and need all the support I can get....).
Thanks!!!
