Methanol Carbs???
#1
Quick question. Are methanol carbs the same as regular carbs with a different jetting or a re they really different? What would be needed to convert a methanol carb to regular gas or vice versa.

A real methanol carb will be considerable different from its gas counter part. In a nutshell ALL of the passages for fuel, as well as the jets will be larger, and it would be difficult to convert one to gas. As for converting a factory carb to methanol, it is easy to do with a wire sized drill bit set and the knowledge.
A few reasons to shy away from methanol, it is very corrosive to aluminum, and the power gain from running just methanol is minimal if there is any at all. It also runs extremely hot when the mixture is leaned out, and leaning it out is easy because your fuel delivery requirment is almost doubled (you will use twice as much methanol as gas) A few positives, it is cleaner, safer(IMO) cooler (with the right mixture) and nitromethane mixes quite well with it
Sorry the response wasn't as quick as the question...
